8. How will those who know the truth but do not let their lights shine be saved in the last hour? Matthew 25:11-12.
9. Why isn’t deathbed repentance accepted by God? Revelation 22:12.
10. What made the thief’s repentance on the cross acceptable? Luke 23:39-43.
Note: It is evident that this thief did not know Jesus, the Son of God and Savior of the world, until that short time they hung on the cross together. When he came to the reality that Jesus was the Christ, he feared God, for his speech indicated it. He saw himself and Jesus in the true light; he a guilty man, and Jesus innocent. He acknowledged Him as Lord. Many today have ample opportunities to give their hearts and lives to the Lord that this thief didn’t have, yet they delay and put off until another time. Upon their deathbeds or sick beds they are convicted of their guilt and repentance, but they have done nothing for the Lord when they had the opportunity. Will God now grant their request and give them a home in His Kingdom? Through reading various Scriptures, we can say that the answer is no. The repented thief does not justify death bed repentance when opportunities were available and rejected prior to this time. We are judged according to our works.
11. What is said of those who fall away? Hebrews 6:4-6.
12. Why can’t one repent after death? Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 & Ecclesiastes 9:10.
13. When is the accepted day of repentance? II Corinthians 6:2 & Hebrews 3:7-8.
14. What will be the speech of those who waited too long to repent? Jeremiah 8:20.
