Preview: A lesson on the consequences of being self-righteous.


Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 9:1-6.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 20:6.

1. Is it human nature, according to the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse, to believe in our own ability and strength?
2. Why is this true? Romans 10:1-4.
Note: We must submit ourselves to the righteousness of God, and we can only do this if we know Him.
3. What was Paul’s advice to us concerning self-love? Galatians 6:3, Galatians 6:14.
4. How will it change our nature when we are born of the Spirit? Galatians 5:22-26.
5. How will we esteem others when our faith and hope is in God rather than self? Romans 15:1-2.
6. What example did Christ give us concerning this? Romans 15:3-7.
Note: The closer we are to the Lord, the less self-serving we become.
7. How did Isaiah describe self-serving preachers? Isaiah 56:10-11.
8. What did he say will happen to those who are haughty, self-righteous, and arrogant? Isaiah 2:11 & Isaiah 13:11.
9. Did David confirm this? II Samuel 22:1-2, II Samuel 22:20-24 & II Samuel 22:28.
Note: Self-righteousness and a spirit of selfishness is self-destruction.
